Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) extended the storage fee exemption period for empty inbound containers at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam and Jubail Commercial Port, doubling the free period from 10 days to 20 days.
The move encourages shipping lines to import and reposition empty containers into Eastern Region ports, addressing a key pain point for exporters who have faced equipment shortages.
The extended exemption period is expected to improve the steady flow of empty containers through both ports, support national export volumes, and raise container management efficiency across the facilities.
