Saudi Arabia announced a new package of logistics initiatives aimed at strengthening supply chain integration across GCC member states.
The most notable measure is a storage fee exemption of up to 60 days on GCC imports and exports, designed to keep freight moving and reduce pressure on shippers during peak periods.
Additional measures included in the package:
- Raising the permitted operational age for trucks to 22 years
- Allowing empty GCC trucks to enter the Kingdom to load and transport cargo within the region
- Launching dedicated GCC storage and redistribution zones inside King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam
The initiatives target better container flow management, improved distribution efficiency, and stronger logistics connectivity across the Gulf, at a time when regional coordination has become increasingly important.
