The ports overseen by the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) recorded a strong performance in 2025, with container throughput increasing by 10.58% year-on-year to reach 8.32 million TEUs, compared to 7.52 million TEUs in 2024.
Transshipment containers rose by 11.78% to 1.93 million TEUs, while export containers increased by 11.72% to 3.15 million TEUs. Import containers also grew by 8.82%, reaching 3.24 million TEUs.
Total cargo throughput, including general cargo and bulk (solid and liquid), increased by 1.06% to 242.1 million tons. Passenger traffic surged by 47.07% to 1.08 million passengers, while vessel calls declined to 9,508 ships.
Mawani highlighted that the growth in container handling supports trade flows, strengthens supply chains, and aligns with Saudi Arabia’s National Transport and Logistics Strategy to position the Kingdom as a global logistics hub.
