Maersk has introduced an updated Emergency Surcharge (EMS) in response to ongoing Red Sea disruptions causing port delays, equipment shortages, and rising costs.The surcharge applies to shipments from the Middle East and Gulf to North Europe and the Mediterranean — set at USD 1,600 per 20’ and USD 1,800 per 40’, for both dry and reefer containers.
